Please make sure that the BSOD is indeed related to Ventoy.
you can use other tools to make a bootable USB with the same ISO file and same USB disk and make a comparison test.

yeah, it looks like normal sergei s. x64 winpe boots okay. but like half of the pc's i have tested, booting of "native mode" sergei strelec winpe x86 crashes after windows loading screen & reboots the pc.

can you focus on it, @longpanda?

For info:
I don't have BSOD when I make a bootable USB with ventoy-1.0.13.
I make bootable USB with the same ISO's and the same USB disk also with Rufus and UltraISO and I don't have any crash/BSOD.

WinPE8x86(Native) isn't working even on Ventoy 1.0.14. There's a blue screen and a computer restarts automatically. This mode works only if SSTR folder is copied onto a pendrive. Other modes are working without copying the SSTR folder. Legacy Mode

Can you fix it?

Sorry! WinPE8x86 Native has a very special PE wim file. I run into problem to make hook in it.

However, this native mode is just for very old, underprovisioned computer.

Quote:This is a special mode in which a specially prepared minimal core is loaded first (without a graphical shell) and runs a script that searches for media (DVD, USB-HDD) with the assembly and mounts the "full" core.

+ Pros:
1. Fast boot to USB 1.x. Instead of the usual 5-10 minutes on USB 1.2 - about 1 minute.
2. Less memory consumption (to build Strelec - less by ~ 250MB).
3. Reduced CPU requirements (Native Mode core has been patched to work with CPUs starting with P4 / Athlon), NX-bit checking is disabled.

-Minuses:
1. Binding to the media (when you remove it, the PC will “freeze”).
2. Slower kernel operation (since everything is loaded not from a fast RAM disk, but from a slower media). In practice, special "brakes" are not felt.
3. RunScanner does not work correctly (a utility for redirecting programs to work with the registry of the target OS), redirection to the registry of the target OS does not occur.
4. For compatibility with old CPUs, support for multicore and PAE is disabled.

Note: On modern PCs, it is better to use normal boot mode.

It's too bad that it can't be done Sad
The Native Mode has really low system requirements and loads almost instantly.
It's good even for modern PCs, because it's so fast.

Maybe we can try to ask the author to add support for Ventoy like USM and Hikari PE.  Big Grin  That will be the perfect solution.
