Updated bios to 2019 version:

Machine:  Type: Laptop System: LENOVO product: 20CJS1ET00 v: ThinkPad T550 serial: R90JX19M
          Mobo: LENOVO model: 20CJS1ET00 v: SDK0E50510 WIN serial: W1KS62L10GV UEFI: LENOVO v: N11ET51W (1.27 )
          date: 11/12/2019

Still won't boot the iso's on this machine.

Jumping in here to say that I can replicate the problem on a Lenovo T450s (20BX series) and T550 (20CK series).   Both computers are of the same "generation" as the T550 the OP originally posted.  Both computers are running the latest UEFI / BIOS for their respective models (both circa 2019).   Ventoy v1.0.45 ....

On both computers, from Ventoy I've tried booting a customized WinPE ISO as well as the standard (unmodified) Windows 20H2 install ISO.   Both computers display a black screen and never progress after the ISO is selected from the Ventoy interface.  Both computers boot without issue from a RUFUS created USB, generated from either ISO.

I've used the exact same Ventoy USB to boot a T520, T530, T460, and T570, and a couple HP Elitebooks without issue.  So I know the Ventory USB drive generally works without error.
