Just a thought.
Why not just install Ventoy on your disk, put the Debian iso on it, create a persistence file and launch the Live distribution from the ventoy menu using persistence.
It should work, no need for partitions other than those created by Ventoy, and no more problems with the boot sector.
The distribution must support persistence, but it seems to me that Debian does.
