grub2 entry ventoy - jesudia - 03-15-2025 I have installed Ventoy on my internal hard drive and on another partition I have installed Debian 12 but Debian overwrites the MBR and I can only boot Debian. I want to include the Ventoy installed on the hard drive in Grub2. What solution could there be to have Ventoy boot from my Debian 12? RE: grub2 entry ventoy - Eliott - 03-18-2025 Hello. Just a thought. Why not just install Ventoy on your disk, put the Debian iso on it, create a persistence file and launch the Live distribution from the ventoy menu using persistence. It should work, no need for partitions other than those created by Ventoy, and no more problems with the boot sector. The distribution must support persistence, but it seems to me that Debian does. RE: grub2 entry ventoy - Steve2926 - 03-24-2025 Look at the grub.cfg which boots Debian and see what commands are used (kernel, initrd etc.) Now use the Ventoy Update button to make the disk boot to Ventoy. Then make a \ventoy\ventoy_grub.cfg file to place a menu entry into it which loads your Debian boot files. You may need to change the root in your menu. see https://ventoy.net/en/plugin_grubmenu.html |
