I use about a dozen of AppImages. I can control where they are placed (in a shared folder for other users) and how much storage and where they took it. All them works in all my Linux (openSUSE and MXLinux mainly). Some of them are much better packaged than other (only some of them are auto-updated, that is another advantage of AppImages). Even Blender (a complex application) have an AppImage version ... that says much about flexibility of AppImages.
