Solved Ventoy menu items not being displayed on live machine.
#1
Question
I am having a weird problem.

In QUEMU, everything is displayed fine, however, on the live machine (MBR), none of the ventoy menus are visible (ex: secondary boot menu, hotkey menu, power menu. etc...).
The weird thing is, that switching to text mode, still doesn't show any ventoy menu items. The items are there, they are just not visible.

PS. What's even more weird, is that the behavior is the same for Ventoy default theme.

Any ideas?

Does it display OK if you don't use ventoy.json? (just rename ventoy.json to another name and reboot to test)

I tried this as well. I added my results to my first post.
Basically, exactly the same situation.
Not sure which version worked correctly, as made couple of version updates before I noticed this issue.

You did update grub2 at some point. Maybe that’s the reason.

Delete /ventoy/ventoy.json and take some photos about it.
2 of your photos use custom theme. I want to see photo about default Ventoy.

Backup all your data in the USB and make a fresh reinstall of Ventoy.

Here are screenshots without the ventoy.json.
I didn't take a picture of the text mode but it is the same as 3rd picture from my previous post.

I can do that of course, but I haver two different usbs that produce the same issue.

Both have latest version of ventoy.

PS. Just of curiosity reinstalled latest version of Ventoy. Default ventoy theme. Same behavior as in pictures above.

I've never had this problem before. I have no idea now.
Can it display OK if you make a fresh reinstall and plug in another computer?

If QEMU displays OK then the problem must be with the physical PC, PC BIOS or USB drive.
So try different PCs,
try different USB drivea (different types and different sizes of USB drive)
try different filesystems for Partition 1 (exFAT, NTFS, FAT, etc.)
What PC are you using? What USB drive are you using?
