i have ventoy usb with windows 11 24H2 iso.it isn't installing - xzaswq - 11-23-2024 hi, I have formatted my USB with ventoy2desk and put Windows 11 24H2 iso on it—ventoy formatted 32GB USB in the exfat file system. I have made it a bootable USB. when I boot my computer I see Windows 11 24H2, when I click it, the next screen presents about 4 to 5 options. two of the options are (1) boot in normal mode. (2) boot in wiim mode. when I select first option to boot in normal mode, I see a black screen for a long time and nothing happens then I manually power off/on my computer and restart it. when I select the second option and boot in wiim mode, then the next screen shows a black screen.this black screen remains there for a long time and nothing happens.then I manually restart my computer . please help me with Windows 11 24H2 install using ventoy. i selected secure boot and MBR during ventoy format. thanks. RE: i have ventoy usb with windows 11 24H2 iso.it isn't installing - xzaswq - 11-24-2024 how is it possible to convert exFAT file system on this USB to NTFS without losing data? RE: i have ventoy usb with windows 11 24H2 iso.it isn't installing - Eliott - 11-24-2024 It's true that Windows installation sometimes takes a while to start up (sometimes 2 or 3 minutes), depending on the media used. I don't know of any way to convert from ExFat to NTFS without data loss. You have to reformat the flash drive. I'm using Ventoy without Secureboot, which only causes problems. My USB key is configured in MBR, NTFS and without Secureboot. All my images are in the \Iso directory and the ventoy config files (json, Themes and others..) are in \ventoy (be careful not to capitalize this directory). With such a setup, I've never had any problems installing any version of Windows (or Linux for that matter, whether in Live mode with or without persistence, or not) whatsoever. RE: i have ventoy usb with windows 11 24H2 iso.it isn't installing - xzaswq - 11-24-2024 @Eliott (1) what if it takes more than 2 or 3 minutes. what is the maximum time it can take to start? (2) when I format my USB using ventoy, it always format it in exFAT. how come you format it in NTFS? (3) should I also use Ventoy without secure boot like you? to format a USB in exFAT, FAT32, or NTFS is hidden in ventoy. later I figured it out. RE: i have ventoy usb with windows 11 24H2 iso.it isn't installing - xzaswq - 11-24-2024 Windows 10 installation starts quickly but windows 11 24H2 installation does not start in normal mode and in wiim mode and takes a lot of time, not two to three minutes. infact windows 11 24H2 installation never starts. RE: i have ventoy usb with windows 11 24H2 iso.it isn't installing - Eliott - 11-25-2024 You can install ventoy without secureboot, but you don't have to. In my case, Ventoy without SecureBoot works just fine. I've never had a problem with that whether the bios is set to Legacy (and all my machines are in MBR mod since I don't have any storage over 2To) or UEFI. In Ventoy 1.0.99 (under W10 pro) the formatting choices are in the option menu, then partition configuration. [attachment=918] The problem of the formatting type not being taken into account (format in ExFat when I had chosen NTFS), I've had with older versions of Ventoy, never again since the latest versions. When it happened, I just reformatted the ExFat partition to NTFS using the Windows file manager. That said, I always prepare my USB keys before installing Ventoy on them. With Diskpart (tool supplied with Win10/11) launched in a Windows console in “adminitrator” mode, I start by cleaning the key with the following commands: -- List disk (to find the key number) -- Select disk n (n being you USB key number given by the list) -- Clean (to delete all, datas partitions and formatting). -- Exit (To quit the tool) If you want to force the key to be formatted after cleaning and before exiting the tool, just after "Clean" you can run the commands: -- Create part prim (to create a main partition) -- Format quick fs=ntfs (to format the partition) This won't do much good, as Ventoy will destroy and reformat the partition anyway, but this will allow Windows to recognize the key and you can check that it's working properly before installing Ventoy.. To finish with Diskpart. There's no going back with this tool, so be sure to carefully check the device number of the key before validating the command.
