Kali Linux with persistence and Secure Boot Enabled - dude - 07-11-2021

Hello, guys! Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am a newbie and have basic knowledge about Secure Boot and Digital Signatures. So I need some advice.

I made Kali persistence using these steps and It works just fine with Secure Boot disabled.
I want it to work with Secure Boot enabled. Also, I want to be able to install the required distribution using Ventoy and with Secure Boot enabled.
I did these steps too, but when I try to boot into Kali I get an error:

I tried to find a description of a similar problem on this forum, as well as on the github forum. But didn't find a solution. What should I do? Do I have to sign Kali somehow?

Trying to make it work on Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15API.
If I have not provided all the information required to understand my problem, please let me know. I'm not sure what might be needed

Weird, I too am trying to put Kali on Ventoy and I'm having problems.
In the instructions it says

"Need -c persistence.conf option. And use Live USB Persistence boot opt"
Now, where the heck do I put that -c persistence.conf option?

If Ventoy just had in the installer a menu for properly configuring plugins...

In Ventoy, did you go in the menu to enable Secure Boot and then update the stick?

I also encountered the same problem, do you want to install kali into a physical machine?

Why not try the live version?

Boot to Kali ISO
You should see a menu with a list of entries
Choose the 'Live USB Persistence' menu entry

Hi, sorry for the late reply. It is needed when you create persistance file by yourself:

Code:
sh CreatePersistentImg.sh -l persistence -c persistence.conf

You can read about that here: 4. Backend Image File. Create by yourself.

But you can also use pre-created files from https://github.com/ventoy/backend/releases. For example, persistence_ext4_4GB_persistence.dat if you use kali.

Sure, I turned on secure boot in Ventoy menu and updated Ventoy on the stick

Hello, sorry for the late reply. No, I don't want to install it. I use Kali Live with persistance, just wanna make it work in Secure Boot mode

Hi, sorry for the late reply. The problem is that I can't make Kali Live work in Secure Boot, just mentioned that I also use persistence plugin. It works fine when Secure Boot turned off, but when I am trying to boot with Secure Boot turned on I receive error message (on the photo above)

Kail does not support secure boot. So you must disable secure boot if you want to use kali in UEFI mode.
